Caretaker / Head Docent
The Bidwell House Museum is seeking a live-in caretaker and part-time docent for the historic 1760s house beginning May 1. The museum is located on beautiful grounds and 190 acres of woods and fields in the friendly and creative rural community of Monterey, MA. In exchange for housing in a one-bedroom apartment (including utilities), the caretaker is required to work 20 hours/week during the 20 week season, on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 10 hours/week off season.
The ideal candidate loves history, is comfortable interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds, is able to work with little supervision, enjoys telling stories, can handle fragile and valuable items with great care, has a good eye for displays, is neat, mature, enjoys gardening, and is handy with small repairs. Opportunities to curate exhibits, develop programs, or engage in research are available if interested. No animals please.
