2018 Events – Bidwell Country Fair


JULY 7, 2018, 1-4PM

Visit the Bidwell House for our annual FREE community celebration (formerly known as Township #1 Day) on the grounds of the Museum.  There will be fun for the whole family, including:

-Music by Moonshine Holler and the Adams Brothers

-The Butler’s Rangers reenactors

-Crafts and games for kids including, painted rocks, yarn dolls, clothespin soldiers, paper kites, a fern maze, a scavenger hunt and more!

-Tables with activities, food and information from local organizations like Flying Cloud Institute, Gould Farm, Woven Roots Farm and Tyringham Historical Society

-Food and Drink including, a Pie Baking Contest (see below for more info), lemonade, watermelon, popcorn and food for purchase like SoCo Ice Cream, hot dogs, soft drinks and snacks.

-Berkshire Hills and Dales Spinning Guild and forging with Steve McAlister and John Graney.

-Pony Rides with Marilyn Fracasso and Goats from Gould Farm!

-Garden Tour at 1:15 with Ruth Green and Guided walk of the Native American Interpretive Trail at 2:15 with Rob Hoogs

-Hayrides with Roger Tryon on an antique farm truck at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30.


The Bidwell Country Fair is supported in part by a grant from the Tyringham Cultural Council along with all of the generous friends and donors to the Museum.

Do you love to bake pies?  How about a delicious fruit pie?  If so, please enter our pie baking contest at the Bidwell Country Fair!

We are excited to announce the local judges for this fun contest:

Michele Miller, a professional baker for over 40 years, she founded beloved local company Bola Granola in 2008

Rachel Portnoy, a pastry chef and former owner of Cakewalk, she now the proprietor of the restaurant Chez Nous in Lee with her husband Franck Tessier

Itumeleng Pitso, a native of South Africa, she has cooked at resorts all over the world and is now the pastry chef at Blantyre


Here are the rules:pies

Pie Judges will judge on …

  1. Appearance
  1. Crust
  1. Filling

Pies must be delivered and checked-in at the Bidwell House Tent pie table No later than 2:00

Each baker will receive a number for their pie.  The bakers name will already be on the bottom of their pie plate.

Judging will start at 2:15. Scoring for each category will be 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.

If you are planning to enter the contest, please call the Museum at 413-528-6888 so we can register your name.  This helps the Museum know how many pies to expect.
