2018 History Talk – Russ Taylor

The Sun Ever Shines on Them: The Global Reach of William and Jemima Bidwell Partridge’s Family

by Russ Taylor

Join the Bidwell House Museum for the third history talk of the season to hear Bidwell descendant Russ Taylor discuss the family of William and Jemima Bidwell Patridge.  William Partridge’s brother, Dr. Oliver Partridge of Stockbridge, marveled that, with the exception of 40 minutes each day, the sun shone somewhere on a member of William and Jemima’s family. From missions in the Middle East and the Sandwich Islands to the establishment of religious IMG_4432RussTaylorcommunities in the Midwest, the impact of some of Rev. Adonijah’s grandchildren has been vast … and enduring.

Russ Taylor is an Associate University Librarian at Brigham Young University’s Lee Library. He has worked as a librarian for more than 25 years and has also worked for 15 years as a corporate speechwriter. To round out his professional career, he was also a bull whacker and ox drover for the Minnesota State Historical Society at the Oliver Kelly Historic Farm in Elk River, Minnesota and at “This Is The Place” Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Bidwell House Museum History Talks are held at the Tyringham Union Church, Main Road, Tyringham at 10 a.m. Suggested donation $15 per person, $10 for members of the museum.
